Oil creeping up the crankshaft is thrown out into a recess in the casting which is drained by a passage leading to the intake manifold. Since there is no metal to metal contact, they NEVER ware out. Failure happens when the passage to the intake manifold is blocked. Cleaning the blockage solves the problem. . . 😀
