Jeff, How many starts would you guess a motorcycle or garden tractor would do? I have a 56 Johnson 30 HP and as you know mid 50s motors have a pull start backup anyway. My boat is a 12Ft Crestliner Commander and there is not muCh space for battery in the back of that boat along with gas tank and control cables. Smaller battery is easier to hold down too.
