You have to expect a worse case scenario with any old motor. The splines on the crank and driveshaft can rust and wear and replacing the ignition system, coils, points etc., water pump, carb kit and resealing the gearcase can be expected as basic to do chores unless the seller can show it running and has receipts for recent maintenance work. These motors are getting old and not all of them get the care they need.
