    wannabe,

    Cannot answer for Scott, but what I do to a motor that is not getting full cosmetics:

    Tear off everything like mag plate, carb, etc…

    Soak in WD40
    Wipe off excess old grease etc…
    Blow out nooks/crannies with compressed air….
    Re wipe until nice and clean!

    Then start cleaning every parts, re greasing and re installing as you go.
