I know Mumbles posted that nice video of checking for leaks on a lip seal and I’ll GUESS the same might be true for this.

I know “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” but you could also save yourself the hassle of tearing into again by doing it now while you’re right there. That o-ring is old and it ain’t gonna last forever and as soon as you get it running, if you see evidence of it leaking you’ll wish you did it now. I think you’re smart for saying you want to address it now while the ignition plate is off.
