    Thanks for the clarification and great advice!!

    I have the armature plate off for my ignition rebuild but couldn’t tell by looking if the carbon seal was able to be removed .

    I’m assuming this can be checked for leaks with soapy water  and turning the crank with a wrench and looking for bubbles similar to a lip seal?

    I would prefer to check and address when the ignition is off if possible.
