If all you have removed are the 3 screws on each coil, the plate won’t come off. There are 2 others to remove – see the picture crosbyman included in his post above or see the enclosed pic from my ’54 CD-11, essentially the same as your motor. There is no clip below the plate – there is a support ring which won’t come off until you remove the magneto plate. And don’t use a puller on that plate!!
