Fact: The Gale 1951-1963 factory service manual says 24:1 for all models. However, the manual was revised in the early 1960’s and the original specs may have been different. Personally, I would use 16:1 in that 12hp. That’s a big engine for aluminum connecting rods.

But I resolved long ago not to get into oil debates, and here I am (again).
