I think you have to expect to take them apart and clean/lube everything. It’s nor hard as long as you have a parts breakdown and keep track of all the pieces. Likewise the old style cables with removable ends can have the core wire pulled out. I don’t know what the proper procedure is but I hang mine from a 2nd story window and flush ATF through them. Same with steering cables. Of course if there are bad kinks or rusted places don’t waste time with them.
