I can’t imagine it could be anything but the rod, but I’d think you’d
hear the broken rod "clunking" when pulled over, unless someone
had it apart and didn’t put the rod back in.
I don’t have any Johnson’s with the "dome top" rewind.
I do have a 1941 KS-15, and see it looks to be the same basic motor,
less the rewind.
I’m curious as to "how" the rewind base bolts to the power head,
and if at KS can be converted to a KD? I have no plans to do so,
but just wondering if the blocks are different.
