    I’ve got several RDs and the way I make sure the vacuum cutout is working is to get it running in neutral and momentarily advance the carb throttle linkage so it momentarily revs up big – you will hear it go "Chunk-Chunk-chunk" as it cuts one cylinder in and out to keep the revs down. I have never found a bad vacuum cutout switch.
