    for example…. when I ran my little trolling 3.9 (with a new pump kit and carb clean) it would occasionally shut down when the tank is on the bottom of the boat. moving the tank up 12-14 inches on the seat cleared my problem …

    why don’t you try as suggested to raise the tank a bit or higher than the motor for a test . …and report back !
