    What brand of coils did you install? The green German Prufrex and black OMC/BRP ones are pretty much bullet proof but there are questionable Asian made knock-offs on the market now.

    If your wiring is good, remove the coils again and look at the bottom of them. An audible high voltage leak will leave a small black mark about the size of a pin head. Even though the coils are new, the insulation may be faulty.

    To firmly connect the spark plug wires to the OMC/BRP coils, they push straight in. A little bit of silicone spray (rubber lubricant) helps them slide in. The pin on the Prufrex coils is usually threaded and the wires have to be screwed in.
