I put the mid section back together today (transom mount, etc.)
and scrubbed off a little grime on the power head.
Only thing on the power head that’s not aluminum is
    the cast iron cylinder.
I’m undecided if the cylinder was ever painted or not.
First I thought perhaps it was black, but kept scrubbing
with a toothbrush and mineral spirits, and that went
away showing a "goldish" hue, kept scrubbing and it
looks "silverish", but I don’t actually see a paint "flake"
    anywhere.
None of the aluminum on the power head appears painted
    either.
Hopefully someone with an original A-80 lost in a time capsule
will provide a photo or two. 🙂

Regarding the photo of the mid section. The bottom two bolts
of the "six" bolt section is a friction / tension brake.
Should this have longer bolts with springs to make the brake
adjustable? If I snug up on those two bolts the tube locks
tight, but I fear there’s not enough tension on the bolts to keep
    them from working loose.

The ears on the big aluminum wing nut are broke off.
Will have to search EBay for one of those.

Both transom clamp pads are missing, and the "ball" is
broke off the end of one screw. I presume the pads should be
like the ones shown on my K-50.
It would look problematic to make those type of pads on the lathe.
    Ideas?

Will have to get serious on the power head tomorrow.
