    The simple, two wire system has worked on Phelon magnetos for me for the last 50+ years. It does not work on the two cylinder Bendix-Scintilla magnetos. The cam profile of the Bendix-Scintilla mag. does not allow the points to be closed for a long enough duration in order to effectively short out the opposite system. Three wires required for those.
