Run them out of gas.
Change the gear lubricant
looking for water.
Make sure all vents including
mixture screws are closed.
Fog four strokes.
Not two strokes.
I find they are well lubricated
from the oil in the gas.
Stored in a dry but unheated
building.
Ran a motor last year I haven’t
run since 05 or 06 with no problems.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
