for trolling ( main objective ? ) 3 cyl are probably smoother nothing wrong with 1982 ‘s …. I have several oldies late 50 that are excellent trollers and esy /cheap to fix in case ….
you did not specify engine size …. maybe a small…. 5 or 7.5 would ensure fuel economy and quieter days trolling
