Well, the QD powerhead "should" actually fit onto the FD midsection, because 55-57 QDs were just that, the smaller powerhead on the larger midsection. So, I’m thinking the later QD powerhead should bolt up to the FD midsection and be able to use its larger gearcase….
The difficulties stem from trying to use the newer style powerhead (fiberglass cover) on the older style midsection that had the clamshell hood and relied on cover mounts found on the head and intake manifold.
Needless to say, there is no guarantees here, but I would be pretty confident it will work out…
But, again, I’m not quite sure I understand what Enrico is asking, and am hoping he will post some pictures…
