That is a motor/generator. Unit could be run by battery by dis-engaging the clutch. I suppose Koban motor could be started by using the electric motor also. Koban power head could also charge the batteries used for running the electric motor while also powering the boat. I have seen advertisement photos of the regular "Koban Inboard" but nothing on this unit. It might be a one of a kind or maybe a few were made for an amusement park or ??
