The 1948, almost certainly NOT. Gale 12hp models made from 1949-1953 had a 2.375 inch bore and 2.25 inch stroke. The Montgomery Wards is a 1951 model, also a no-go.
And it looks like I forgot that M/W "Sea King" is another brand that Gale motors were sold under!
Maybe someone will pipe up with the parts you need, or at least the parts diagram… Post in the Classified section, see if there is a local meet soon (and pre-post what you’re looking for). $145 for a powerhead seems like a lot (to me anyway). But I enjoy the hunt for parts as much as anything!
I think the 12D10 parts manual referenced by wedgie is for the earlier powerhead.
