I did disconnect the shift rod, at the connecting screws in the shaft. The lower unit is all fine, but the upper part of the shift rod doesn’t move at all when I move the gear lever.

I can’t see how the coupling would be accessible behind the swivel bracket… it’s all inside the leg and the bits that I think are messed up are directly beneath the power head.
