Agreed. Nine times out of ten buffing with a wire wheel will remove the rust making the parts serviceable again. The OMC/BRP HI-Viscosity oil used leaves a film which helps to protect the parts from serious rusting. Polishing all of the bearing surfaces will help everything spin freely again.
If the gears are toast, ones from ’61 – ’63 OMC ten horse motors will also fit. They share the same part numbers.
