I’ve heard one problem with the cheaper non medical borescopes is they are not very flexible. You can’t make a sharp 90° turn once it’s in the cylinder. I’ve also heard the resolution isn’t that great. A fellow I know with one said it wouldn’t show scratches on the cylinder wall. Some may be better than others though.

My ear, nose, and throat specialist retired recently and I told him I might be interested in one piece of his equipment when he did. When I pointed out his flexible camera which goes up your nose and into your throat, he just smiled and said it was quite an expensive tool. He never did call me about it when he retired.
