Jim; OMC has made a zillion variations of those model engines. The mid-section is different for the split line gearcase vs the thru hub gearcase. It was many years later before they finally put the thru hub gearcase on all of the motors. The split line gearcase was never offered on the 30,35hp motor. At one point OMC offered about 20 factory built models of the 25hp alone. Crazy inventory requirements! Tiller models, electric start tiller models, remote electric start no rewind, long shaft as well as short in each. It got pretty crazy. They also offered a bunch of HP options. 18, 20, 25, 28SPL, 30, 35. I’m sure ME just abbreviates their listings from time to time. As long as they give you a representative model of either JO/EV the parts will be the same. Of course cosmetic (decals, emblems, etc) parts would be different. You can always look those up at OMC SystemMatched.com. Then go to OEM schematics & pick you product lineup. I believe every model is listed there for 1968 to 2011 at least.
