Diagram is correct. But do you have the correct solenoid (relay)? Grounding the small terminal on the relay causes it to close and starter to run. So, the primary circuit for it is small terminal – to push button – to mercury switch – to ground
Remember, this is the circuit for a 6 Volt system, with the 6 Volt relay. 12 Volt relay is different inside.
