Fleeetwin, these 2 things were in the bottom of the lower unit where the water drains are. It is about 6" deep space at the rear of the lower unit, with a drain hole. I’m thinking the junk that fell in there during the repairs previous to me getting the motor happened when they replaced the midsection with a used one. The water pump area is nice and clean,nice fresh water motor for once. Thanks, PSB
