What I have on Scott Atwater rewind starters (Under 35 HP) . . . 😉
There are sources for the bronze cable cored rope, The end can be stripped and the bronze soldered to itself to form a loop – Or you can try tying a knot in ¼" braided nylon rope – if you can heat and mash the knot enough to push it into the pulley so the snubbing rivet will hold it. . . 🙂
