I vaguely recall watching a video or reading some literature that specified the Johnson motors with the cursive writing on decals were for export to other countries around the world and the ones with only block lettering were for America only…
I’ve never seen a decal on any of the smaller post-war Johnsons that didn’t have a red background though.
Not 100% sure on that one…
