Thanks, Jerry! Turns out the Mercury parts catalog is online–which I sort of knew but had forgotten–and included parts for a 1979 12 hp Chrysler using a very similar gearcase. Seal kit is FK1065/Sierra 18-2638. Cost about $23 including shipping from Amazon and various other vendors, or ebay. Of course, there is no guarantee that all the pieces are going to fit. For what it’s worth, this is a breakdown of the Sierra kit:
