Hi Bob, I rewound the recoil on my 46-47 2J, I don’t remember the number of turns, but it was pretty straightforward to do by feel. If yours is a 2J with the recoil under the powerhead, just be careful to wind it the right way. The last person to work on mine had wound it backwards. Surprisingly easy to do that when the powerhead is sitting upside down on the bench. I do not have any kind of service manual.
