Mercury’s version (OEM) of the 89984 impeller has a fiber-wound hub, which is virtually indestructible. I am pretty sure Sierra’s still has the brass hub, which may last a couple of years if you’re lucky but may fail at any time. The brass comes unfastened from the rubber and the impeller stays still. It can happen in a second and your power head is suddenly toast. I would stick with the OEM; as I have never seen one of them let go, yet….
