    Hemlockman,
The magneto is WICO. The points have a bake lite of phenolic slider that needs to be clean and lightly lubricated to work properly. The contacts should be able to be cleaned up unless the condensers were really bad and it was run for some time that way. I believe the new OMC condensers will function fine as a replacement. The capacitance isn’t perfect but is probably better than the originals and shouldn’t cause any problems. I remember the coils in mine being cracked and in bad shape. The OMC replacement coils can be used on the original WICO laminations to repair the magneto. I believe there is a link to this procedure on the elginoutboards.org website also if you need some help with this procedure. I still have to work on mine at some point.

I have not had the flywheel off the latest one I acquired which is just like yours. I expect it to look very much like the later one that I have looked at before, but I could be wrong. If I get into that one and it needs coils I’ll try to get some pics and describe the process for you. I’ll see if I can get some pictures of the mag tonight. That should at least help you know what yours should look like when you get there.
