Can we assume the resistance of the spark plug lead included the coil’s secondary winding and the result was 3K-ohms, not 3 ohms? If I’m assuming correctly, that sounds about right.
Clean the breaker points. Yeah, I know, you said they are new. But even new ones develop an invisible non-conductive coating on the contact faces.
