Please replace the water pump impeller and lower powerhead seal components while they are easy to get at as well….
Kind of hard to believe that nothing was spilling out of the bottom of the cylinder head, but I guess it is possible that the core plug fell out of the head while you have just been working on it….Have a look on the bench and floor, maybe it is there.
You need to replace that missing core plug inside the exhaust housing as well, perhaps the water is sneaking out through there causing the leg to get hot.
