I don’t think the high speed part of the stator, [red wire] even if open, would cause a complete break down. But that will cause a severe bog. You will have to do some DVA meter tests to check the system. Bill’s squirt bottle method is the fast way to trouble shoot that. I have even let someone else drive while I set in the back of the boat to try this while the problem is occuring. This kind of stuff can be dangerous though…. be careful and use common sense.
