I am confused Ben.  I would agree that that damn plastic bushing is a weak link indeed.  No one lubes them properly, and they should be considered a “wear item” and replaced every so often.

The engine in question here is a 74-76 9.9-15 model with everyone’s favorite low tension ignition.  I am not working on this engine, just trying to help a nice youtube guy out west…

Nonetheless, I am interested in knowing just what parts you replace using “CD2” components.   I am assuming that you are not talking about converting a low tension model to a CD2 ignition system
