    Pics show a square pump on bypass  using a single line connector . pulse port is sealed off ..apparently further down the stubby  hose.

    repumping indicates   bad or poor pump operation   or  air leak tank side.    should not be to hard to narrow down. (otherwise fuel would leak somewhere under bulb pressure)
