- Thank you wedgie for your help. Can I use a 7.5hp head gasket on a 6hp? This is a 1954 elgin.The gaskets are the same size, but some of the water flow holes are bigger on the 7.5hp. The other question is what type of gasket paper is used for these gaskets. There is no tin on these gaskets. Thank you for your help, be safe.
