Don, thanks for your insight I will  dig  down the  handle deep end  to pull out all those parts , clean them up and regrease.

Everyting front wise  works fine when I turn the “throttle”  rod with pliers   I remember putting this beauty away a few years ago and certainly don’t recall this problem…. Patience brings joy !  Had the clutch welded ..reasealed the GC and pressure tested it and clean out the carbon crud. I’ll give it a run this summer  and give my merc a rest 🙂
