    Update! Found my backing plate in my oil refuse pot.  I put the lower unit back on and the wobbler pump is working perfectly!!  Lots of water blowing out through the exhaust.  Motor staying cool.
    One issue I am having:  when I was working on the motor my carb knob came lose and I don’t know if I put it back on properly. The motor is running but rough and the Carb seems hard to tune. Please look at these pictures and See if I put Carb  knob back on in the right position.
