George – I got my issue a couple days ago and went straight to your article.  You bring up a lot of valid points and I agree a membership chairperson in each chapter might be a big help in increasing the club membership.   I’ve been trying to recruit some new members here in my small community but there doesn’t seem to be much interest in old outboards despite the fact we have a lot of boats in the area with folks who enjoy fishing and hunting.    We have a new neighbor with a teenager who I am currently trying to recruit as a new member.   It seems incumbent on every club member to work on getting new members but a membership chair would be a great idea.    Otherwise, the club will eventually fade away.
