I use both. Malory clip and spring type. using the Malory crimping tool works best. Dawn for slippery it will dry out. dielectric grease for the spring  and clips so you don’t have to pull on the boot so hard. I do reuse the original boots. they look original. I don’t think what is inside matters

Note: During a misfire episode going across the lake. you think to yourself is it the spring boot as the mark 20 drops on cyl?
