There have been enough motors that were hampered by the following that it bears repeating.
Outboards that will start and run but don’t seem to run well with any load on them, or fail to achieve their full rated RPM need investigation for incorrectly installed pistons (backwards or upside down) or plugged exhaust ports or plugged up muffler.
Don’t ask me how I know this shit.
