Louis, I have worked on a Mercury Mark 5 & 6, but it’s been several years.
A Wizard 12 more recently, also very interesting to work on.
    I sized up the P.S. seal, and it was .500 shaft x .843 O.D.
I found a listing for that size, and ordered one.

However, on the Drive Shaft, I measured that to be .472 at the seal area
(less above the seal area) x 1.000 O.D.
I did “not” find a listing for this size.
_____ Poole has some seals listed, but they all say N.O.S.
Not sure I want to put in a 40 or 50 yr. old seal.

Do you have a part number for something that will work for
the pump cartridge “square” o-ring? The I.D. of the seal,
as measured on the cartridge shoulder, is 1. 470.
I found nothing in my O-ring kit that would work.

For now, I put the gearcase back together, as the seals in it,
and even the water pump impeller, look to be in great shape.
If I get it running good, and if I can gather all the seals,
    I will revisit the gearcase.

This 1949 motor lower unit is fully jeweled.
Did it originally require 90 wt. lube or grease?

    Thanks!

I decided that I could make the same tool I used for pulling
the pump cartridge for turning the gearcase cover.
