    Thanks for the help!  Sometime Monday or Tuesday I’ll be working on it again.   Per your suggestions, I’ll check out the throttle linkage with the timing advance disconnected, and  pop the flywheel  get the timing advance  free’d up.   I have a hunch that this motor has been dormant longer than the 2 or 3 years my neighbor was told.
