Something I have done in the past to save on paint costs. I used the rattle can paint to get the color and then sprayed over that with an automotive clear coat. The clear is fuel proof like the clear coat on your car. Another option is tractor and implement paint from your local farm supply store. My local Fleet Farm store has a line of tractor and implement paint in about 80 on the shelf colors for about 25% of Dupont or PPG paints and they also sell the hardener to mix with it if you choose to.
