if you use the drive shaft and cover to PUSH DOWN on the impeller yes clockwise if fine.. if you manually insert the impeller in the upper half cover of the pump you pre-install COUNTER CLOCKWISE and when you flip it to install it will turn in the proper direction.. clockwise 🙂
add a touch of oil or grease in the housing to help it slide
