Well, cripes ..just found your thought provoking ideas Mr Boathouse. I’m finding I should have walked away from these 2 motors. After futile attempts to get ignition to respond….there just isn’t any. I spent time “boiling” out the carb and using gravel to clean out inside of the fuel tank. Can’t figure out how to dismantle the twist grip throttle. Have loosened up the transom clamp screws that were frozen

All in all, I’ve lost enthusiasm for these two Neptune twins. The 9hp is truly a parts motor, but someone better than me would likely put more into the 6hp, which is a complete motor…
