The new needle and seat from the Discount Marine carb kit seems
to have solved the problem with gas blowing out the bowl vent
when it felt like. The new needle is pretty sloppy in the seat bore
compared to the old one, but it seems to work.

If the weather holds, I may get the motor back out on the lake
after I get the rewind spool, air silencer, and hood back on…..
should be a little quieter and “cooler” looking.

I didn’t have any GPS, but I’d say this 12 hp is pretty “zippy”.
    Thank you West Bend.

The reverse lock, small spring, is either broken, or stretched
out beyond all hope. There’s two larger springs that the West Bend
parts manual says are something to do with the reverse lock system,
but for the life of me, I can’t tell how it works.
Anyway, one doesn’t want to use reverse unless your at a slow, slow
idle, and / or, have your hand on the motor to keep it from popping
    out of the water!
It does not look like a fun job to tear that system apart…. maybe
    this winter.
