Well, my valve and seat lapping was a dismal failure,
if that’s even the problem, but if not, I lack understanding
how gas comes out the carb vent when the needle and seat
always pass the “invert and blow” test when I have the
    carb apart.

When I started it up today, gas was immediately streaming
out the vent atop the carb, peeing about six inches.
When I unplugged the tank hose to run it out of gas,
and when on it’s final “cough” before stopping, the
carb shot gas out the vent three feet.
Something is “Abby Normal” for sure.
I’m not messing around with it anymore until my carb kit
comes with the new needle and seat.
I may take the fuel pump apart to inspect, but it seems to
be working okay. Not sure if there’s parts available, but
I guess it’s time to start looking.
    Signed, “Baffled”.
